What is luxury?

Luxury is often confused with price, scale or display. Its more enduring form is quieter. It emerges from rarity, time, provenance and a quality that cannot be convincingly reproduced.

The value of an exceptional property is not determined by area or specification alone. Setting, architecture, history, detail and experience come together to create something singular.

For Ludwig & Mayer, luxury is therefore not a category. It is a standard of judgement.

Rarity alone does not create significance. Exceptional value requires credible origin, consistent quality and a story that has not been manufactured for the market.

This is why we work with a limited number of assets and relationships, giving each the attention it requires. We are interested in assets with genuine character and an appropriate audience.
